As President of SFMA, Roberto Plazola is responsible for the overall management of SFMA to include industry functions, execution of strategic objectives, public relations, management of staff, membership retention and recruitment and financial performance.
Over his 30 years of experience, Roberto has served in various leadership positions with regional and global responsibilities, successfully enabling the digital transformation and growth of his customers from Sales to Operations. Prior to joining SFMA, Roberto served as Director Post Sales and Head of Customer Success for Telefonica Global Solutions, where he was responsible for the end-to-end management of Fortune 100 customers like Tesla, Microsoft, Nokia, Cisco, GM, Ford, FedEx, JP Morgan, among others. He served as a member of the Executive Committee. During his leadership career, Roberto also served as Director of Sales for Orbitel, where he was instrumental in developing its market penetration and operation in the US. In his tenure with former Lucent Technologies, today Nokia, Roberto held different international leadership positions contributing to the development of fiber optics, wireless and telecommunications networks for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Roberto holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a Master in Program Management, Global Management and Leadership. Roberto has been the recipient of several Leadership and Customer Service awards.
Originally from Venezuela, Roberto calls South Florida home since 1999. There, his passion, and excitement to directly contribute to our local economy through SFMA’s mission and vision.
Roberto is an avid sportsman and an advocate for ocean conservation and volunteering in the community.

Member Services Manager
Aaron Palazzolo has 15 years of diversified experience in the private sector and non-profit management. Some of Aaron’s prior experience is in member services management with industry trade associations. During his time at the South Florida Hospital and Healthcare Association, Aaron successfully managed and led multiple membership-based initiatives and committees. He also implemented organizational process improvements for change and built successful professional networks to achieve organizational growth. Aaron possesses a passion for association success and is enthusiastic about facilitating the goals of SFMA and our members and supporters.

Office Manager and Event Coordinator
Lisbeth Peña has 10 years of administrative experience in both private and non-profit sectors. She recently relocated from Boston, MA, where she supported the C-Suite at East Boston Neighborhood Health Center. She has worked in many different industries and is excited to join the manufacturing industry.
She earned her Associates of Arts in Accounting at Broward College and shortly after completed her Bachelors is Business Supervision and Management at Broward College as well. Lisbeth is looking forward to working with all current and new members of SFMA and contributing to their success.

FloridaMakes / SFMA Business Advisor
Micah “Doc” Daugherty is a FloridaMakes Business Advisor working with the South Florida Manufacturers Association. He started his career at Weirton Steel Corporation in Weirton, West Virginia, where he spent 15 years and served as a Regional Sales Manager for Tin Mill Products, Operations Planning Supervisor, and Metallurgical Technician. He moved to Florida in 2003 and started his own steel trading and consulting business. Through the ownership and operation of this business, Micah gained extensive knowledge on international business, sales and marketing, supply chain management, and the import and export process.
Fernando is a FloridaMakes Business Advisor working with the South Florida Manufacturers Association. He started his career with PepsiCo and ITW in the Venezuelan manufacturing industry, moving to New York in 2009 to earn a master’s degree in Management of Technology at NYU. In New York City, Fernando served as Director of Process Improvement for one of the largest digital & printed media companies in the US, as well as co-founded two energy efficiency companies focused on resilience and meeting state and local mandates. With over 13 years of experience, he specializes in developing effective solutions for small and medium sized businesses to gain efficiencies and integrate technology with operations, promoting local growth, safety culture and quality above all.
Sandra Blake’s entire career has been focused in manufacturing. She was Vice President of Human Resources with FHP Manufacturing (Bosch) for more than 2 decades. During her time at FHP, Sandra served the SFMA for more than 20 years in the capacities of Chair of the Human Resources Committee, Board of Director, and Chair of the Board. Since retiring from FHP, Sandra opened her own business – Blakes Design Biz – designing websites for a myriad of organizations and businesses, including some SFMA members. Since 2012, Sandra has worked with the SFMA as webmaster and communications and database manager.
