ABOUT SFMA

The South Florida Manufacturers Association (SFMA) has held the distinction of being the #1 resource for manufacturers in South Florida since 1961 – saving its members time and money through advocacy, networking and resources. SFMA prides itself on being member driven – creating new products and services as members’ needs change.

Founded by a group of realtors who understood the importance of manufacturing to a strong economy, the SFMA has served manufacturers and related industries for over 60 years.  As a non-profit trade association, the mission of the SFMA has remained constant though out its history: To Serve Manufacturers.

Benefits

SFMA is the only resource for manufacturers in South Florida saving its members time and money through Advocacy, Networking and Resources.

SFMA Has A Long History

Manufacturing in Florida is unique. Of the approximate 19,000 Florida Manufacturers 95% have less than 25 employees. This demographic benefits greatly from association advocacy and other support. There are 13 manufacturing associations throughout the state of Florida with SFMA being one of the largest. The SFMA operates one of the only Manufacturer focused Training Institutes in the state providing training and development to all south Florida manufacturers.

Over its long history, the SFMA has had a hand in establishing the Broward Economic Development Council (now the Greater Ft. Lauderdale Alliance), the Florida Sterling Council (Florida’s Quality Council and Award), the Manufacturing Extension Partnership in Florida (today FloridaMakes) and the Manufacturers Association of Florida (MAF).

Membership in SFMA is company-based allowing all employees of member companies to participate in activities. To keep the focus on manufacturing, the SFMA strives to keep 70% of its membership manufacturing companies. The SFMA is a 501c6 not-for-profit organization and is governed by a Board of Directors and is owned by its members.
