In this Tech Talk, Dr. Gloria J. Wiens from the University of Florida will review the current technology landscape and future trends of the cobot, a ‘collaborative robot’ designed to interact safely with humans in a shared environment. The discussion will highlight their state-of-the-art capabilities as well as the gaps in using cobots, collaboratively with humans, to increase productivity while decreasing production costs. A demonstration will also be given on the research being conducted in the Space, Automation and Manufacturing Mechanisms (SAMM) Laboratory at the University of Florida on Intelligent Human-Robot Collaboration for Smart Factory.
